American Civil War:  Classifications:  US or SS

Important in the understanding of the causes of the Civil War are the events and trends that led up to its outbreak. Therefore, a study of the seeds occurring post-Revolutionary War and pre-Civil War should be included for a deeper grasp of the issues. This course surveys major historical trends and changes leading up to the 1860’s in the United States. The student should become familiar with major events, people, and institutions of this period.
